Jae Kwon: A Journey of Dedication and Legal Excellence

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Jae Kwon embarked on a remarkable journey that led him to become a seasoned legal professional with over 20 years of experience. In the pursuit of better educational opportunities, Jae's family immigrated to the United States when he was in the third grade.

Jae's early years were marked by financial challenges, but his parents' determination laid the foundation for his resilience and pursuit of excellence. He graduated from Hersey High School in Arlington Heights and went on to earn a bachelor of arts in History from Cornell College. Subsequently, he graduated from DePaul University College of Law, gaining admission to practice of law in 2003.

With a career spanning two decades, Jae has showcased extensive litigation experience on both the prosecution and defense sides. Notably, he served the people of DuPage County for 12 years as an ASSISTANT STATE’S ATTORNEY, handling high-profile cases, including first-degree murders, aggravated arson, and criminal drug conspiracy cases, among others.

Jae's prosecutorial career, recognized by being named "felony prosecutor of the year," is complemented by approximately 8 years in private practice, where he engaged in criminal defense, administrative proceedings, civil/commercial litigation, and corporate transactional work.

Currently serving as a Senior Assistant State’s Attorney in Kane County, Jae stands out as the only candidate with significant prosecutorial experience in DuPage County. His judicial philosophy emphasizes strict adherence to the law, fairness, impartiality, and treating each case on a case-by-case basis without bias.

Beyond the courtroom, Jae is an active member of the legal community, chairing the DuPage County Bar Association's criminal law division, serving on the board of directors for DuPage Bar Foundation, the philanthropic section of the Bar Association and serving on the board of directors for JUST of DuPage. Additionally, he is a member of the Asian American Bar Association, Korean American Bar Association, and the Korean American Law Enforcement Group.

Jae Kwon's dedication to justice, legal expertise, and community involvement make him a unique and qualified candidate, bringing a wealth of experience to the judiciary.

In addition to the Illinois Bar, Jae has been admitted to the Federal Trial Bar in both the Northern District of Illinois as well as the Central District of Illinois.

Jae currently resides in Aurora, Illinois with his wife, son and their three dogs, Lacey, Molly and Trey.
